On March 8, 2008 Scandinavian Shave Ice participated in the 13th
annual Kona Brewers Festival. No, we didn't serve beer-flavored shave ice, however we played a role in the Trash Fashion Show. Thalia Davis fashioned an outfit made of recycled shave ice cups and straws
collected over a period of several days from our store. As you can see
from the photo, she did an amazing job and we can only hope this is
the beginning of a fashion trend. Milan, here we come!!!

We have several West Hawaii Explorations Academy Charter School
students working at our store, and we donated a shave ice machine,
ice, and cups to their Drug Free Substance Abuse Awareness Community Fair on March 8, 2008.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life was held February 15th
and 16th 2008 at Kealakehe High School. This national event raises
money for cancer research and Scandinavian Shave Ice was there. All
money raised from our sales went to the Relay for Life.

One of our goals since the beginning was to play a positive part of the Kona community. Our first community project occurred in late September 2007. Along with fellow Ali’i Drive restaurants Boston Basils, Splashers, and Hula Bean, we co-hosted a Progressive Dinner, with over $1000.00 raised for Full Life Center to help them buy a new specially equipped van. Full Life Center is a not for profit organization that provides a variety of needed services  to the physically and mentally handicapped community. We hope to host another event like this in 2008, if your organization is interested please contact Rich or Melissa at 331-1626.
